Die Wand

This evening is the debut performance of the play “Die Wand” by the Mezzanintheater. The play is based on a novel by Marlen Haushofer and it is about a woman who finds herself in a glass cube in a mountain valley after an ecological disaster.

sackstraße

the sackstraße in graz is well known for its antique shops. in one of them (Antiquitäten Holasek) I spoted this interesting scene. it’s a real worldwar and also a giraffe and a cow are on the battlefield.

worldwar.jpg

there is also the Fruchtgummi-Laden in the sackstraße. a store with delicious fruit chews in different shapes. But I have to admit the product in the shop window doesn’t look very inviting.

pedestrian friendly

new york’s newspaper the epoch times writes about graz:

Hugging both shores of the river Mur, Graz displays a harmonious coexistence of buildings and alleys from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic and elements of the 19th and 20th centuries. It’s hard to find another city that offers so much in such a compact and pedestrian-friendly space.

some party-recommendations for wednesday

two nice, not really subcultural, but not really mainstream parties will take place on wednesday. hard to choose, where to go:
on one hand on wednesday the
elevate festival starts.

Four nights packed with concerts, live acts, and DJs from all over the world. Four days of installations, performances, and discussions from independent organizations and artists. Most events take place in venues carved inside the historic Schlossberg – the hill in the centre of Graz.

on the other hand in the helmut-list-halle in the district “eggenberg” another big, but probably great event takes place. it is called PUNK’D MOZART and you can expect – surpise – some punk and other rock music. special guest beside the two headliners taking back sunday and anti-flag is the graz based band red lights flash, who has become quite famous out of austria in the past few years.

Semantic Web Atelier

There seems to be an interesting group of Semantic Web afficionados working in Graz…
