wow, finally i joined the group of great graz-metroblog authors! as i hate anything that has to do with computers and logical thinking, i made quite an effort to post here. ;-) the first thing that came into my mind when reading the grazblog for the first time, was the question: why is it in english? i know i know, everybody speaks it and so we can communicate with anybody on this big big planet, but honestly, isn’t the blog primarily for people who are living in graz and want to check out what’s going on? of course, it’s interesting for people from other countries to read about graz, and i understand that very well, this is also the point why i’m writing in english right now. i just wanna test out who really reads our statements. so, please, anybody not speaking german and reading this post right now, write a comment!!!! it would be great if there would really exist people from anywhere in the world except from graz who are reading this…. then we could even change the whole world, hehe.
so i’m looking forward to write some interesting posts for the grazblog, see ya!

Vergessene Subkulturen der Siebziger und Achtziger Jahre

Frank Apunkt Schneider, *1969, lebt zurzeit als unfreier Autor und unfreier Künstler in Bamberg. Er ist Mitglied der KünstlerInnengruppe monochrom in Wien und schreibt u.a. für Testcard, Bad Alchemy und Intro. Für den Ventil-Verlag hat er das Buch Als die Welt noch unterging. Von Punk nach NDW verfasst, das voraussichtlich im Frühjahr 2007 erscheinen wird.

Als die Welt noch unterging ist eine ausführliche und materialreiche Chronik zur Entstehung und Entwicklung des Punk- und New-Wave-Untergrunds in Deutschland zwischen 1977 und 1985, der als so genannte „Neue Deutsche Welle” bekannt wurde. Er wird als Zusammenspiel von sozialgeschichtlichen und politischen Faktoren mit der popästhetischen Entwicklung gedeutet, und unter Zuhilfenahme ausgewählter Einzelphänomene ausführlich erläutert als bedeutsamer Bestandteil der gegenkulturellen Geschichte, der sich gegen die Vereinnahmungen durch nationale Popgeschichtsschreibungsmodelle stellt. Von daher berücksichtigt die mit Als die Welt noch unterging vorgelegte Gegen-Geschichte vor allem die Aspekte, die sich durch ihre Sperrigkeit und Entlegenheit der offiziellen Historisierung durch Jürgen Teipel und andere bislang weitgehend entzogen haben wie die Kassettenszene, die Fanzines (das sind kleinauflagige Zeitschriften aus der Szene für die Szene), regionale Szenen usw. Deren Geschichte lag bislang bestenfalls in Umrissen vor.

Ergänzend hierzu soll in dem Vortrag „Bei Verwendung einer Beatband in der Lautstärke auf die Gemeinde und den Raum Rücksicht nehmen!” eine weitere fast vergessene Subkultur der deutschen Popgeschichte vorgestellt werden: Der Sakropop. Der „Schwund an jugendlichen Gottesdienstbesuchern” wurde in den 1970er Jahren nicht selten mit der „weitgehenden Ausgrenzung der Lebenswelt von Jugendlichen” aus dem Gottesdienstgeschehen erklärt. Notgedrungen musste die Kirche Popmusik als deren wichtigste Ausdrucksform akzeptierten. Die lange, schwierige, zähe und tragikomische Integration von Pop in die Kirche erzählt die Geschichte des „Sakropop”. Sakropop ist eines der merkwürdigsten Sub-Genre des Pop überhaupt, praktiziert lediglich innerhalb einer beinahe unsichtbaren und völlig unvermittelbaren Subkultur. Er hat die zahllosen Widersprüche zwischen religiösem Dogmatismus und popkulturellem Freiheitsversprechen in sich aufgenommen und in eine adäquate, von jeglicher üblichen Bedeutung von Pop komplett entfremdete Form gebracht. Nichts an ihm ist authentisch! Und das ist ja schon wieder Pop.
